Miranda shared this passage at the last Praying Without Words. You may wish to read the poem Joy Tobler wrote in response.
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10
UNSHAKEABLE
Unshaken.
Unshakeable.
I, the Lord, cannot be shaken.
So grasp My still hand,
take hold of My firmness,
My stability, My solidity,
in the face of all your turmoil,
instability, and the shaking
of everything around you.
Your whole world may be heaving,
trembling, shaking, shattering;
but I am not.
You may feel yourself plunging,
flailing, sliding, drowning;
but I am not.
You may be at your wits’ end,
despondent, despairing, desperate;
but I am not.
I am the great I AM
who was and is and shall be
forever the same.
I am the unmoveable One;
The Unshakeable One;
the you-can-always-rely-on-Me One.
And I love you, so deeply;
and have compassion on you, so greatly;
I will never let you go.
Come fire or flood,
earthquake or mountain shake,
I, the Unshakeable, am with you
to hold you close to My heart.
