Be still and find rest at our hidden chapel and peaceful garden on the edge of Sheffield and the Peak District. Whirlow Spirituality Centre is a Christian day retreat centre. A safe place of quiet and peace for reflection, where all are welcome. Click here to find out more about the quiet spaces we have available for you to use. You can find out more about our purpose and values here.
The centre is managed by a partnership of Whirlow Grange Limited, a charitable company that manages the Centre and has a grant-making function and All Saints Church in Ecclesall. Our board members and directors are among those listed here.
Safeguarding is at the heart of our Christian faith and we are committed to offering a safer environment for all. All Centre staff and volunteers receive regular training in the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Join our weekly service in the chapel, overseen by volunteer ministers from various Christian denominations
Space to be before God; to relax, reflect and pray and so to renew your spiritual resources. These days are limited to ten people onsite but may be blended (online and onsite.) on occasions.
Opportunity to practise, share and learn.
Many are drawn to silent prayer, meditation, centering prayer, contemplation ... for that purpose, we run Praying Without Words via Zoom each month.
Contemplative Dialogue is designed to facilitate a non-threatening, ‘safe place’ for open sharing and discussion. The focus is on listening to ourselves and others, rather than formulating a response to what is being said.
Christmas can be a difficult time, for Christians, for those of other faiths and for those with none. It is a time that can magnify emotions: both joy and sadness can feel more intense. This ‘Blue Christmas’ service on the longest night (solstice) provides a space for our memories and emotions to be held and acknowledged rather than dismissed or hidden.
Join us for a Christmas Day reflective communion service at 9.45am in the chapel. You are welcome to arrive from 9.30am and join others in silence before the service begins. Our communion services allow time and space for reflection and the formal liturgy tends to be kept short.
Join us for a time of reflection and fellowship as we mark the turn of the year.
Space to Reflect is a reflective service led by members of the Whirlow community.
Our senses are the pathway to experiencing connection to the world. By developing our sensitivity to listening, seeing and whole body sensation we can more deeply connect with our spiritual essence, our companions and nature.
Join us for an all-age afternoon together inspired by Charlie Mackesy’s book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse.
