Join us this Lent as we consider a selection of early Christian texts. These writings are records of the core teachings of Jesus, which were attributed to St Thomas and widely used in the early Christian church. They were sidelined after not being included in the official canon. Rediscovered in 1945 amongst the documents of the Nag Hammadi library, the ‘Gospel of Thomas’ has attracted much interest from scholars and spiritual seekers. It consists of 114 sayings attributed to Jesus, which echo and augment the teaching recorded in the canonical Gospels. This Lent group will consider in depth a selection of these sayings, in five sessions gently facilitated by Whirlow Chaplain Alison Richards, Jacky Stride and Malcolm Peet.
These evenings will run on Wednesdays from 21st February – 20th March 2024 inclusive
Refreshments will be available from 7pm, with a prompt start to the sessions at 7:30pm and finishing by 9pm.
Participants are encouraged to attend all the sessions where possible. £20 covers all 5 sessions, otherwise it is possible to pay £5 per session, please email events@whirlowspiritualitycentre.org should you wish to do this.
