A day with Adrian Scott exploring the spiritual and lyrical vision of the poet Dylan Thomas.

  • Whirlow Spirituality Centre Whirlow Grange Close Sheffield, England, S11 9SY United Kingdom (map)

‘Entering the Round Zion of the Water Bead’ a day of poetic exploration with Adrian Scott exploring the spiritual and lyrical vision of the poet Dylan Thomas.

‘A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone's knowledge of themselves and the world around them.’ Dylan Thomas

  • We are often encouraged to live in the present moment. Poetry transcends and enhances this at the same time.

  • In the work of Dylan Thomas, we hear of a time when ‘the sabbath rang slowly in the pebbles of the holy streams’, or when ‘it was all shining, it was Adam and maiden.’

  • As the year moves towards its ending, we will do what Dylan did in his famous Poem in October and take stock.

  • To look back down the paths of our past and appreciate who we have become in the present and how we can move into the future with honesty and appreciation.

  • We will explore Dylan’s brilliant portrayal of the interaction between the green world and the everyday human world.

  • We will seek to find our own spiritual vison and story that makes us unique and startling in company of one of the most lyrical, funny, honest and candid writers of the 20th century.

  • There will be poetry, but also music, film and, of course, silence.

Whether or not you know his work this day will be enjoyable and enlightening.
